One Year Wedding Anniversary!

Our one year wedding anniversary is this Sunday! So I wanted to recap my wedding with you all since my anniversary is coming up.

To start off...my wedding was definitely a DIY wedding and you all know that I am a budget girl :) so everything you see was under $6,000! Yeah, I know...now days weddings are more like a down payment on a mansion and that was just not going to happen for me (I'd rather have the mansion than a fancy pants wedding that cost $50,000!). So with a lot of help from my Mamma and some careful planning we pulled off what I think was the perfect wedding! {Details at the end of the blog}

Take a look...

Here's my tips for a beautiful wedding on a budget:

Find a venue that does it all! It makes your life SOOO much easier! My wedding venue was La Paz Bed & Breakfast on the Angelina River in Jasper, Texas. It is gorgeous! The Inn Keepers and their staff served and created the meal, decorated, and the wedding party also stayed there the night before. The girls stayed in the main house and the boys were in the log cabin (which they loved since they could fish all night!). Also, La Paz included tables, chairs, linens, and a breakfast in bed in the Little White House for the newly wed couple the morning after. This place is truly a hidden gem! Also, there was a very tight maximum guest count of 50 people. This might scare some people, but for me was just what I needed since I did not want a big wedding (it also helps with keeping the costs down!).

Next, my dress! As strange as it sounds I hated trying on dresses! Every dress I tried on was heavy, itchy and hot. So I took a leap of faith and ordered a dress online from J.Crew. It was the easiest process ever! I ordered the dress and sent it back three times until I found the right fit. The best part is that my dress was only $650! And I LOVED IT! Plus, by the end of the night it was dirty at the bottom and had a rip, but who cares when it's only $650!

 Flowers: I went really simple with flowers. We used Hydrangeas, white roses, and baby's breath. Once the ceremony was over, the bouquets from the bridesmaids were now the center pieces of each table along with my bouquet for the head table.

Bridal Party Dresses: I've been in my fair share of weddings (not like the movie 27 dresses, but maybe 5) and while each dress I wore was beautiful I wanted something a little different for my wedding.  I basically told each bridesmaid what color I wanted (mint green) and let them choose whatever dress they wanted. Easy, Easy.

Ceremony Arch: My wedding theme was rustic, whimsical, and bohemian meets the Texas woods! So when I was picturing what I wanted to get married in front of I wanted something like a flower crown with a chandelier hanging from it. I had found pictures of a wedding that was held at our venue a few years ago and they had an amazing arch made of small tree branches that were all twisted together. I had to have it! So, a phone call later, they let us borrow it for free! On our wedding day we added tons of baby's breath to it and added a chandelier, PERFECT!

Cakes: Our cakes and cupcake were all from GiGi's Cupcakes! Super affordable and yummmy!

My (hilarious) parents sent us this picture as a text on our way to our honeymoon! "It's OVER come get your STUFF!". Hahaha!
