Weekend DIY: King Headboard

I've been wanting to make my own headboard for a while now. So, the day has finally come to "man up" and do it! Y'all, it was seriously so easy.

Here's the final product!!

(Don't mind my lumpy looking comforter)

I absolutely love it! And it sure beats spending around $600 for a king sized headboard!

Here's what you need...
-76 in wide by 28 in high plywood (or any wood will do) Mine was around $13 from Lowes. Ask the salesperson to cut it for you.
-staple gun and staples
-drill
-keyhole fasteners (comes 2 to a box)
-box nails size 8d
-hammer
-3 yards of batting (mine was 1/4 inch thick)
-3 yards of nice fabric
-scissors

Ok here we go!

Lay out your batting on the floor and place the board on top. Leaving about 3 inches to fold on each side. Cut the excess off.

Next, fold the batting tightly onto your board and staple it all around. I used a lot of staples!

After that, place your fabric on the ground. And repeat the same steps as you did for the batting as the fabric. Make sure to flatten the fabric out completely so that you will not have and creases.
Pull tightly when you staple but not so tigh that you are moving the fabric. Staple, Staple, Staple!
Take your keyhole fasteners and drill and attach to the top two corners.
Nail your nails evenly to the wall and attach your headboard.

Here's my trick: I put the nail into the keyhole fasteners first then gently nail the headboard in.
There you have it!

Shame on Me!

I've been a bad, bad blogger...it's been over TWO months since my last post. Ooopsie.

Well let's catch you up to speed! Here's a quick run down of what's been going in my life since. So..I'm no longer a teacher, I accepted a new position working in Adult Education and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! This job has truely been a blessing from God!

Also, as you know from my last post the Hubs and I celebrated our one year weeding anniversary. As my gift to him (and myself haha!) I got him a new dog! We lost our AMAZING yellow Lab this past January due to old age, so we've been talking about geting a new dog and well here she is! Welcome Miss Cleo!
This picture was right after we got her. She's quite a bit bigger now..like 30 lbs! They grow so FAST! She's Chocolate Lab and if you've ever owned one you know they are so so so hyper and love love love to chew on anything and everything. She has kept us BUSY!

Ooooookay....
Let's jump into Fall! Who's ready? Meeeee! Being in Texas it is HOT, but we've been having a "cool" front lately so it's been nice. With that being said, it's time to upgrade my closet to get ready for this season. Check out some items that I have my eye on.. Some are pricey, but trust me that I'll find budget friendly version.
