Don't Be Duped!

Tis the season of spending way too much money on everything! Anyone else's wallet starting to feel some holiday pain from all the excessive spending? You too? I thought so. But, let's be honest that doesn't mean that I'm going to stop shopping anytime soon. It just means I need to shop smarter!

Tons of retailers have produced so many great dupes of the designer duds that we are all drooling over. You might look at some of these price and think, "hey, that designer ___ is not that expensive". If that's you, GREAT! But if you are like me, I can not justify spending $300+ on a pair of ankle boots that will probably go out of style next year.

So, one of my favorite place to shop for dupes is Old Navy. I actually just love Old Navy in general! You can literally shop for the whole family, even the dog! They also have tons good sales throughout the year.

When I scroll through Instagram looking at my favorite blogger/influence's outfits, I always try to find a more affordable dupe of some of their key pieces. That journey usually either leads me to Old Navy or Target.

Here are some of my current favorite dupes from Old Navy. The dupes will save you, in some cases, hundreds of dollars! YES!! And the best part is it's not too late to order them online if you are in need of a Christmas gift for someone or yourself (treat yourself ladies!)! *affiliate links

Cozy Christmas

It's finally December!! That means it's officially all things Christmas..all day..every day! For me that actually means lounging around in pjs all day watching Hallmark Christmas movies with the AC set at cool 68 degrees. How else am I going to justify wrapping myself in a cozy blank and wearing knee high socks when it's 85 degrees outside?!

If you are like me, there is nothing better than changing into something cozy once you get off work. I literally walk in the door and yell, "Alexa, play my Christmas station on Pandora", drop my purse and immediately start stripping down to change in some comfy joggers or a cute Christmas pj set.

Need a little cozy Christmas inspiration?

Christmas Bucket List

It's no secret that I am a total Christmas fanatic! I usually put my Christmas tree up in October (drives my husband crazy!), but since we hosted our first Thanksgiving at our house this year I had to hold off to put it up.
This is our first Christmas in our first home so the excitement is at an all time high! Plus, my neighborhood is alllllll about decorating for each holiday so I'm really excited to see everyone's home lit up.
Since it's not officially December yet, I thought I'd jot down some ideas of things that I want to do before the Christmas season is over. I'm a big list person, so why not create a Christmas Bucket List?!

So far, here are my Top 5 to dos on my Bucket List!

1. Go to a Christmas Tree Farm (check!)
So, this one is checked off the list. While driving around our new town, we discovered that there is a Christmas Tree Farm down the road from our house, how convenient right?! It's just the most adorable place! The smell of all the trees are just AMAZING! There's nothing like it!
Top // Necklace // Jeans // Boots // Handbag
Even though we did not buy a real tree, we still had a blast just walking through the rows of trees and enjoying the beautiful weather. I'm typically more of a "fake" tree type of girl, less maintenance and I can put it up whenever I want! Here's our tree for this year! I LOVE it!
My favorite ornament! Cleo!

2. Walk the neighborhood and look at Christmas lights
One night when it's a little cooler outside, my husband and I are planning on taking a walk around the neighborhood (with Cleo of course) to check out all the Christmas lights. We live in a smaller neighborhood, but these people sure love to decorate for all of the holidays! We were shocked to see how many people decorated their yards for Halloween, so I'm sure that Christmas will be even bigger!

3.Wear a "Ugly Sweater"
For the past couple of years, my office does a Ugly Sweater contest. This year, I'm playing to win! I think I might have to create my own just to give me an edge. But, here are some I'll use for inspiration! (affiliate links)

4. Go to Santa's Wonderland or Zoo Lights (or BOTH! :) )
This has been something that I've wanted to do for YEARS! I'm thinking this year we will actually go! Santa's Wonderland and Zoo Lights look so beautiful! All the lights and festivities just make my Christmas loving heart so happy! Have any of y'all been to either? If you had to choose one, which one would you choose?

5. Watch Christmas movies all month long!
This one is not hard to accomplish at all thanks to the Hallmark Channel! Y'all, I love Christmas movies. I wrote a post last year about my top favorites, you can click here to read that post. Do y'all watch the Hallmark Channel's Christmas movies? What's your favorite one so far? Mine is Marry Me at Christmas!

I hope that I have inspired you to create your own Christmas Bucket List!

Nsale 2017

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5

Unless you've been living under a rock, you are well aware that the Nordstrom Anniversary sale has officially started for those of us who have a Nordstrom card. Last year, I unfortunately did not have a card, so I had to wait until after early access to start shopping. Welllllll...everything that I wanted to buy was sold out by then. (tears) This year I made sure that this did not happen again.

Here's my first #Nsale haul! I've seem to be going with a color scheme of neutral colors. Go check out the #Nsale  if you haven't already! There's tons of stuff for you, your home, and your family.

Happy Shopping!

Hello, It's me again..

I feel like every couple of months I go on the apology tour for my lack of blog posts. So, press play on a sappy sad instrumental background music as I beg for your forgiveness. Here it goes...I am so so so SO very sorry. But, I'm back! I've really got to do better with juggling everything, but I know that we've all been there, right?!

Life update. The Hubs and I are officially grownups because we bought our first home! Let me tell you, the journey leading up to moving in and sleeping in your home the first night was not an easy task. Months and MONTHS of searching for the perfect home, a lot of time spent going back and forth to the bank retrieving bank statements and scanning/faxing/emailing pages and pages of documents. In the end, it's all worth it when you pull into YOUR driveway each day know that you own this home.

Now that we are no longer living in boxes, it's time to make this house look like our style and feel like our home so que my inner spiritual animal named Joanna Gains! The first thing on my to do list was getting rid of all the green in the house. Literally every room is painted this gray-green color, which is not an ugly color in my opinion, but really clashes with my color scheme of furniture.

Second, the kitchen. The counter tops, back splash, and cabinet color really is just not my taste so eventually they will be updated!

Next, my closet. In the apartment we were renting before we moved, I had a HUGE walk in closet. But, there was only one closet so Hubs and I had to share. Now, my husband is more of athletic shorts and t-shirt kind of guy so the closet was filled with mostly my things. In our new house, there are two closets and a linen closet. The closet I chose was the largest (duh) but is significantly smaller than what I had been use to, and the closet is super bland and boring. So, I'm going to brighten it up and give it a little more functionality and flare!

Here's some inspiration of what will hopefully be the style of my house! Check my Pinterest for more!
