Babydate: 1 Month + Wilson's Favorite Things

While I was pregnant, I posted a few Bumpdates where I would tell a few things about what was going on with me and the baby during that particular week of pregnancy. Well, now that our little dude is here I thought I share some Babydates!

Wilson has been in our lives for 4 whole weeks now! Y’all I can’t even believe how fast the time is flying by! But if I’m truly honest with you, it has not been easy! (#momminainteasy) Don’t get me wrong, I am loving every moment I have with this sweet baby of mine. But, it has definitely been a huge learning experience for me. Anyone else remember a time when you’d hear other parents talk about how hard it is to juggle everything with kids and how they’d always say, “one day you’ll know what I’m talking about”? Yeah, I do. I also remember thinking how hard could it possibly be! Well I’m definitely eating my words now that I have a newborn because this is HARD!

If it wasn’t for all the help that we have had, I’d be even more of a basketcase than I am. Number one piece of advice for anyone expecting a child is to always accept anyone’s offer to help! Seriously, you do not know how precious a 30 min nap can be until you’ve experienced life with a newborn. My mom has been a Godsend. She literally drives 45+ mins to come stay with me while my husband is at work. I LOVE YOU MOM!

Before I get into Wilson’s Babydate, here are some small Mom wins that I have experienced in my short 4 weeks as a parent.

1. Your toes double as a second set of hands. I can’t even tell you how many times I have dropped something on the floor while holding Wilson. Instead of waking a precious sleeping baby by either putting him down or bending over to pick it up, I’ve gotten really, really good at grabbing things with my toes! Here’s just a few things I’ve managed to snag with my new set of hands aka my toes. Pacifiers, clean diapers I’ve dropped while changing him, burp cloths, my cell phone (shout out to my loopy case!).

2. A baby wipe doubles as a pee shield! Boy oh boy! I don’t know how many times I have been peed on while mid diaper change. He’s even shot himself in the face a few times! Thank God my mom told me to throw a wipe on top of the “pee gun” the second you remove the diaper.

3.  A Rock ‘n Play is a gift from God himself. Seriously. My son loves this thing. If you don’t have one, you’re sabotaging yourself.

Okay, back to the baby.

So, Wilson (Will) is officially one month old! Here’s a glimpse into Will’s first 4 weeks of life.

Favorite baby items: DockATot and Rock ‘n Play

Favorite toy: this piano play mat

Favorite outfit: Milkbarn PJs (he hates footed pajamas so these are perfect!)

Favorite time of day: bath time!

Favorite song(s): Praise Baby songs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and The  Wheels on the Bus

Favorite book: he’s not really into this yet.

Favorite person: Mommy, duh (just kidding!). He loves us all!

If he’s cranky at all Matt will take him into his room and turn on a game and rock him and he’s instantly chill! I guess all those high school baseball games he went to while he was in my belly made an impression on him!

Favorite thing to do with Mom: take a snooze in her arms

Thing he dislikes the most: changing clothes! Yikes! He hates an outfit change!

First restaurant he went to: Casa Ole

First store he went to: Target!

First solo car ride with Mom: Dunkin' Donuts! This mama needed some caffeine!

First person he met other than family: My oldest friend Blake and her daughter Sophia

Favorite hairstyle: baby Mohawk

Favorite Paci: we love Wabbanub! He has a monkey (aka Monks), a dog and a zebra.

Favorite food: milk! (Shocking right?!)

Favorite dog: Cleo of course! She’s been a great dog mom!
