Bye Mom Guilt

This week I have been struggling so much with Mom guilt and the unnecessary stress that I have been putting on myself. It sounds so ridiculous that I am even working myself up over planning my soon to be one year old's first birthday party, but I AM! I've been searching Pinterest and Instagram for inspiration and I've seen these AMAZING photos of birthday parties that look like they've spent $1K on in decorations....so here I am trying to compete...WHY?

Why? Why? Why? Do we allow ourselves to compare our life to others? Why do we make it "necessary" in our minds that we have to have a picture perfect life on social media? Honestly, I do not know, but it's a real struggle that many of us probably won't say aloud but we feel it. 

I think I've made Will's birthday more about how it will look, and less about him. So, I'm packing up some Amazon boxes full of "crap"that I have ordered for his party and sending them back tot their original owner!

Now, does this mean that I am just going to have a cake and blue plates at his party? No. That's just not me. But it does mean that my attitude is going to change about his party. I'm not going to stress or worry about how it will look or if he's going to have a melt down during it or if our guest will have a good time.. What I will worry about is making sure that Will knows how much we love him and that all his family and friends took time out of their day to come join us!

So, my house will not be spotless and you'll most definitely see weeds in our flowerbeds. This mama is real, she works a full time job, drinks cold coffee (unintentionally) every morning, doesn't' have perfectly arched eyebrows or nicely painted nails, but I do have a precious baby boy, a loving husband, a rambunctious dog, and wonderful family and friends. SO.....bye Mom Guilt!

With that being said, I had a little fun this morning sharing a get ready with me video like I see my favorite bloggers do. The difference between my video and their's is that my lighting sucks, it's an unflattering angle, I'm sitting on the floor, my makeup is not designer, and I have the cutest little boy climbing all over me during it.
